Facebook ad account restricted or disabled? What to do

Updated 6 October 2026 · GigaEasy

A message saying your ad account is restricted is stressful, especially in the middle of a sale. Usually it can be fixed. Here's how to find out why it happened and what to do next.

First, find the reason

Open Account Quality in Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager, or search "Account Quality" in Facebook's help. It shows which account, Page or ad has the problem and which policy Meta says was broken.

Common reasons

What to do

  1. Secure your Facebook account. Turn on two-factor authentication and check for logins you don't recognise.
  2. Fix the cause: pay outstanding charges, update the payment method, or edit or delete ads that broke a policy.
  3. Request a review from Account Quality if you believe it's a mistake. Explain briefly what your business does.
  4. Wait for the decision. Reviews can take from a few hours to several days. Don't create lots of new accounts to get around a restriction; that can make things worse.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Meta take to review a restricted ad account?

It varies, from a few hours to several days. Make sure you have fixed the cause and submitted the review request from Account Quality.

Can I just open a new ad account?

Creating new accounts to get around a restriction can lead to further restrictions on your profile. Fix the cause and request a review first.

Will my Page be affected?

Sometimes restrictions apply only to advertising, and your Page keeps working. Account Quality shows exactly what is affected.
